I love my new camera which is a Fuji Finepix S700

My review of the the fuji finepix S700 is all thumbs up. The simplicity and ease of use makes this a great camera for everyone. It also looks like a camera. I think the S700 will satisfy the needs of even the most serious photographer.

All the great features makes this camera so endearing. The 14 preset scenes easily covers most if not all photography needs. There is a "2 frame shot" setting, that gives you a picture with a flash and one without. There is a preset for sunsets, just look at my picture posted here of the guy skiing. I used the "sunset preset" to take this shot. The "landscape preset" was used on several of the other photos posted here. The "portrait preset" was used on the photo of Neal Patrick holding the large carp. There is a "fireworks preset", which I will use at the beach and on 4Th of July this year. I did try the "movie mode preset" and it works great. I could go on and on about the 14 different preset features, but I'm trying to keep my post short.

Besides the outstanding 10x optical zoom, I would have say the "grid" display is one of my most favorite features about the camera. Now all my shots should be perfectly level and aligned. The rule of 1/3 should be much easier for me to achieve. Add to all this, the fact that the camera still uses double aa's batteries, really makes it special. This is what drew me to investigate the camera in the first place, that with the 10x zoom. I didn't want an expensive lithium ion battery, because they aren't always readily available. I'm still using the same rechargeable batteries from 5 years ago that I bought for my first digital camera. These rechargeable batteries seem to last forever, because I have taken thousands of pictures in 5 years and they are still going strong. I like the fact that these type of batteries are inexpensive and just in case you forget to recharge or happen to leave them at home, the regular alkaline batteries will do the trick.

The camera also uses XD or SD memory cards. A 1GB card only cost $14 now at the local Walmart. The s700 also has a large 2.5 lcd screen, which is very nice and it has a feature that allows you to toggle between it and the view finder, which either mode will display all your auto functions in a window.

Without a doubt this is the best camera I have ever owned. I've had some pretty expensive 35 mmm film cameras over the years. I don't plan on retiring my Olympus 3.1 Camedia, but it will now be residing at the lake house on a permanent basis. This way if I forget the new camera or leave my film card at home, I'll have a back up readily available. This way, when NP catches a large fish, I won't have to make another 50 minute round trip to pick up my camera. I love my son, but running back and forth to the lake is time consuming.

The only thing I see wrong with the S700 camera is the fact it doesn't have a remote control for the built in self timer. The self timer on the fuji has a setting of 2 secs and one for 10 secs. This should still give me enough time to jump into the picture. I know it always made smile when I've have to jump into any pictures where I don't have my remote. A good laugh and a great smile are always priceless when it comes to taking a great picture. My pictures from now on should be a little better and more creative. Try the S700, you will not be disappointed!
