Still having fun with Gimp Heal Selection Tool

If you wish to try the "heal selection"  for yourself , you should  visit either Gimp.org or Partha.com to download version 2.8.2 of Gimp and install the necessary plug-ins.  If you already have Gimp installed, check under the tab titled "Filters"/enhanced/healselection. If you don't see "heal selection in the drop down men once you have clicked "enhanced" under filters, you will need to install that particular plug-in. Since everything is all in one place on the website Partha.com, I recommend using that site.  Be sure to download version 2.8.2  and 2.8.2 plugins. Don't download the experimental version, it eats up to much memory, plus the plugins do not have the "heal selection" tool in them.

Below I played with the idea of removing a picture of my nephew's boat I took a few summers ago. I was surprised as to actually how much I could successfully remove in the first pass.  Using Gimp's "lasso tool" to select the image, I found I was left with a few blemishes after my first attempt, however completing a few more  lasso's  of the blemished results, removed even these. There was  however a blemish left along the fence line from the "heal selection", so I simply used the "rectangular tool", copy and pasted a small section of fence in place.

Only the boat antenna was left. however I elected not to remove it, since doing so would involve a little more time. What you see below, took about 2 minutes for me to complete. I used http://www.photojoiner.net/to splice the two photos together for a quick share comparison.
