Benefits of Walking
My fast pace walking routine is paying dividends now, especially since I made it part of my routine on the way home. Now instead of going immediately home and then walking, I try to make it a point to stop at the track on the way home. This is the beauty of walking, you don't have to change into gym clothes, just a good pair of tennis shoes. A brisk pace is good, one should strive to keep their miles to 14 minutes or less. It takes time to achieve this pace, the goal here is "time on the track". Presently I can walk a substained 12 minute mile for a 3 miles, however I'm more comfortable at 13. It took me a almost a year to achieve a 12 minute mile, having started from a 15-16 minute mile. If you are looking for that boost of energy at the end of a long day, fast walking will give you that.
