Fishing Excuses
The following is a list of our excuses for not catching any or many fish. Anytime we don't catch any, normally the reason for not do so is here. I've highlighted the excuses for today. More than one excuse may be used at a time, it's usually a combinations of factors involved. I will provide one or several of these excuses each time when the fishing isn't productive.
Currents too strong, Barometer rising,Wind "clocking" around
North, South, East or West wind, NE, NW, SW, or SE Wind, Not Enough Wind
Barometer falling, Too calm,
Fish shut down just before we started
The lake needs a good storm to stir them up.
Fish are not here (or they'd be hitting)
No currents, foggy, To Sunny, To many boats
Wrong moon phase, Fish facing wrong way
Too many bait fish, Not enough bait fish, Didn't have the right bait
Didn't have right lure color, Didn't have enough time, Water too rough
Gear not working properly,Partner not fishing seriously
Trolling Motor Troubles, Cloudy, Others fishing our spot
Lost fishing coordinates, Couldn't see landmarks, Should have fished elsewhere
Upper level low, Hooks dull, Not watching rod when fish struck
Fish hit during nature call, Didn't have net, Didn't have boat
Inept netter, Inept captain, Shakedown trip (checking equipment out)
Followed another fisherman's advice, Gloated about successful prior trip
Jinxed, Bragged about last trip, Fish "Hitting Short"
"Slapping lure with their tails", Recent thunderstorms
New equipment,Tackle in other tackle box,Weights Wrong Color
Too prepared - even brought cooler ice,
Cast out reels in the wrong order
Placed fishing reels in wrong order on pier
Fish saw my reflection in the water
To Much Water in the Lake, Not enough Water in the Lake
Forgot to wear my lucky hat, Forgot to wear my lucky shirt
Chuck Norris said not to catch fish today, so I decided to live a little longer
