Shut Out Today- Couldn'tt even catch a sunset!

Fishing Excuses

The following is a list of our excuses for not catching any or many fish. Anytime we don't catch any, normally the reason for not do so is here. I've highlighted the excuses for today. More than one excuse may be used at a time, it's usually a combinations of factors involved. I will provide one or several of these excuses each time when the fishing isn't productive.

Currents too strong, Barometer rising,Wind "clocking" around

North, South, East or West wind, NE, NW, SW, or SE Wind, Not Enough Wind

Barometer falling, Too calm,

Fish shut down just before we started

The lake needs a good storm to stir them up.

Fish are not here (or they'd be hitting)

No currents, foggy, To Sunny, To many boats

Wrong moon phase, Fish facing wrong way

Too many bait fish, Not enough bait fish, Didn't have the right bait

Didn't have right lure color, Didn't have enough time, Water too rough

Gear not working properly,Partner not fishing seriously

Trolling Motor Troubles, Cloudy, Others fishing our spot

Lost fishing coordinates, Couldn't see landmarks, Should have fished elsewhere

Upper level low, Hooks dull, Not watching rod when fish struck

Fish hit during nature call, Didn't have net, Didn't have boat

Inept netter, Inept captain, Shakedown trip (checking equipment out)

Followed another fisherman's advice, Gloated about successful prior trip

Jinxed, Bragged about last trip, Fish "Hitting Short"

"Slapping lure with their tails", Recent thunderstorms

New equipment,Tackle in other tackle box,Weights Wrong Color

Too prepared - even brought cooler ice,

Cast out reels in the wrong order

Placed fishing reels in wrong order on pier

Fish saw my reflection in the water

To Much Water in the Lake, Not enough Water in the Lake

Forgot to wear my lucky hat, Forgot to wear my lucky shirt

Chuck Norris said not to catch fish today, so I decided to live a little longer
