Bigger is Better

NP and I decided to go fishing again before the cold front comes through on Wednesday. Normally fishing is not good during a cold front. Starting Thursday, the night temperatures are forecast to dip into the 30's. The high will only be 60 all Easter Weekend. On scale of 10, right now fishing is a "10". Warm temperatures and full moon, make for excellent fishing. Tonight was no exception, another great evening of fishing. We caught 25 crappie, most of them large, like the one you see me holding in the slide show below. I caught several in the the one pound range. NP and I always release the fish the fish we catch, almost as soon we land them. Anything large, like the Flathead Catfish above, has to endure a brief photo session. This time I only caught a couple more fish than NP, however his one fish wiped out all the fish I had caught in weeks time. Neal Patrick fished for crappie when we first got to the lake and landed 6 within about 3 minutes. I knew I had some catching up, if he hadn't rigged for the cats, I wouldn't have caught him.

NP threw a couple of lines out for flatheads just before sundown. Something is magical about this twilight hour. We use bells on the end of rods to detect even the slightest strike. The bells comes in handy when it gets dark and even during the day. Every time a bell rings, a catfish gets his wings"(it's wonderful life in fishing, when we hear that sound). We heard jingle bells serving us notice that something was interested in what we had in the water. NP picked up the rod and waited for the right moment to set the hook. This fish gave Neal Patrick a run for his money. The fish made several runs. I'm not sure who was more tired, NP or the fish. It took everything he had to land this fish. The flathead catfish weighed in at around 35 lbs.

Below you will see one of the large Crappie I caught, along with some pretty sunsets.
in the slideshow. I hope you enjoy the post. This was another priceless trip, to put in my book memories.

Evenings like this throws us in a slight "jealous" mode. It was a beautiful evening on the lake and "the fish" was the icing on top.
Have fun!
Continue to take the time to "treasure life!

I have to agree with Yvonne! She love to fish, so I'm sure this makes her "green" with envy. ;)
