Big Channel Cat

We thought we had a state record for a channel cat last night, but NP's fish fell short by 3 lbs. The fish must weigh at least 20, to be considered for the record. Maybe the next time NP will get the record. I could tell he was disappointed.

Since we didn't have scales, I had to drive almost 15 miles the back to town to get some bathroom scales. Our charts we normally use are geared for flat heads and this being a channel cat, the chart doesn't work. Luckily my father was gracious enough to meet me part way. NP stayed on the pier fishing while I went fetching.

I think NP still has the touch, he had even offered to let me reel this one in. That was nice him to do, it shows me he is maturing more and become a true fisherman. I on the other was back to a familiar role, that of "photographer". Posted by Picasa
