Heading into Fall

I love the fall! Cooler weather translates into better fishing and faster walking. Typically in the fall is when I crank up my exercise routines. Because of a knee injury, my return to fast pace walking has been slower than expected. This past week I have finally been able to sustain 12 minute mile  to 12:30 miles on a consistent basis. My fastest mile walking was an 11:40 mile, hopefully I can break this mark sometime by Spring. Walking at a pace under 12  is a little much for me, so this is not a consistency I care to sustain in the future. It's just fun to hit it every now in the then, when time, temperature, mood and planets seem to be in alignment. My comfort zone is somewhere in the  12-12:30 minute per mile range and if I don't wish to sweat then I need to stay in a  13-14 minute mile.

Fishing wise, I've only gone a few times over the last 2 months. Normally fishing from my dock is not that great this time of year. Even though I didn't have any 40 pound catches, this spring was a great for crappie. The size and number of fish I caught was impressive at times. White Bass on the other hand didn't seem to show up, which seemed strange.  I normally don't fish in the Fall, however I have a lot of friends who swear it's the best time to fish on the lake. I'll just keep an eye on the lake and if I notice a lot of "catching activity", I'll give it a go.  Personally I'm into catching, not simply fishing.

Fall  also signals in the arrival of the Nexus 5 on Oct 14, a smartphone I've been waiting for since reading the proposed specs this past Spring. I did purchase the Nexus 7 and was very impressed with the speed and the graphics. It still has a few re-boot issues that need to be resolved. Once those are done, I can't think of a tablet that compares.

Fall Football, I love it and hate it!  With my Tarheels and Panthers struggling, I'm able to free myself from watching the games and enjoy the outdoors a lot more. My plans to attend a few games has now been replaced by my desire to visit 7 nearby waterfalls.

And let's not Forget the best part about Fall, Oct 13!
