Ultra Light Surf Fishing

I'll be trying this at the beach next week. I normally fish very light tackle anyway, fishing just inside the surf line as opposed to casting out as far as you can.  A coastal  fishing seminar taught me years ago how most people fish beyond the fish in the surf. Since taking the class I've always caught plenty of fish in the surf, when those around me were catching nothing. Even though I use an Ambassadeur 5600 rigged out for smaller fish, nothing can beat the feel of and fight of a fish on an ultra light reel.  I don't have time to modify a fly rod, but the 7 ft spinning rod I have should work fine, especially since about all of these fish rarely go over a pound. If I'm lucky I might catch a 3-5 pound flounder, but most of my catches will be Pompano.
