A Place for Everything

I guess my last two posts have gone to the dogs. I've had numerous dogs for pets over my lifetime and without a doubt they are the most loyal and loving animals one could ever have for a pet. Even though I've owned several cats, they are just not the same when it comes to loyalty.

Still as much as I love dogs,  I still believe that they don't belong on a public beach.  I used to get a thrill when I saw the occasional dog on the beach years ago, however that has changed for me over the years.  Now dogs are everywhere. Even though  the responsible owners pick up after their pets, it still doesn't eliminate all the fecal content that we are left to come in contact with. Pet Owners who carry their dogs to the beach are becoming more arrogant and insensitive to others who use the same area. I used to think smokers who threw cigarettes  butts on the beach were bad, now I finding out that those who take their pets out on the beach aren't much different. The "all about me" attitude prevails. There is a time and place to take your dogs for a stroll.  The beach certainly isn't one of them. When I was a little kid building sand castles on the beach I never had to worry about e coli bacteria, today's kid's  shouldn't either.  I know you love you dog, however you should also show some love toward your fellow man and keep your pet off the beach when vacationing. I don't blame the dog for what comes natural, however I will fault the dog owner.  Those owners who might smirk at this post, need to pause and think.  Please tell me how you are better than the person who throws trash on the beach.
