Not sure how to edit in Raw, however the HS30exr lets you take both jpg and raw at the same time. The first picture was jpg with no edits
The picture to the right was take in RAW and edited via Raw Therapee(instead of fuji'silky pix which comes with the camera) Raw Therapee is a little more user friendly to me. Once I completed the edit, I did a slight curve tweak with Gimp.
To be honest with you, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to editing raw files. All I know is that the files are 10 times larger, until converted to jpg like here. Some features appear more detailed depending on how you edit. It's obvious that I have a large learning curve if I'm going to be swayed to shoot RAW, otherwise I'll stick to Gimp.
*note Raw Therapee is a free program and it can be downloaded via cnet's download.com I like the way it will let you compare the jpeg and raw side by side. It does a great job editing both. Now to take it a step further you can continue on with the new version of GIMP2.8, this is for those who really want every pixel grain to stand out.
