Happy Father's Day Dad, I love you!

I'm blessed with having a great father who is always there for me, whenever I need him. Dad is the"real energizer bunny", he never stops working, even at 80 years of age. My father goes from dawn to dusk working. He loves to work outside. This was how he grew up in the depression era. He told me stories of the days he would work all day in the fields for just 50 cents as boy. When you look back on what he has achieved in a lifetime, it is truly amazing, seeing where he came from. Here is a man who had to quit school in the 8th grade. His parents died when he was very young. His hard work and undying love for his children, helped him put all four of us through college. My Dad is the epitome of a great and wonderful father. I know when Dad stops working his life will be near an end. I try to get him to slow down, but it is his nature to work.

Dad always goes out of his way to help all four of his children, his three grandchildren, son-in-law and his friends. This is who my father is, he is a a "true giver". He loves to helping others and he loves talking to people. You can hardly go anywhere in the county, without him bumping in to people who know him. There isn't a stranger he's never met. He befriends almost anyone he meets.

I've learned long ago it's best not to mention needing any work done around my Dad, because Dad will be ready to go almost immediately. He's a great husband also. My mom can be demanding at times, but Dad never hesitates to do anything she ask of him, because he loves her that much . Mother does the same for him too, they were indeed a perfect match. I'm proud to have them for parents. What they have together is what it takes to be married 60 years.

Today belongs to my Dad, a person who means the world to me. My son will be lucky if I can even match up half way to what he has meant to me. I love you Dad, thanks for being there for me!

*Note about the picture above. I can't believe I got Dad to stop long enough to go to a Carolina Game this fal(Carolina-Va Tech)l. Dad always says he has work to do, he has a way of finding it. Mother and I did a little bit of arm twisting and got him to go. Here you see all three "Richard Horace Conner's", my nephew in the Jersey and my brother on the far side of Dad. This was a great and very special day for us. I wish NP could have been there too, but we only had four tickets.
