Neal Patrick was casting out his brand new ambassador 6000 and his first attempt resulted in a backlash. My son's line only went out 15 ft from the floater. He called for my help on the backlash and in the few minutes it took me to get down to the dock, a large catfish had struck. No it's not as big as his previous catches, but it was the way he landed it. This Flathead Catfish was around 10-12 lbs and just confirmed that NP has this golden horseshoe when it comes to fishing. The fact he caught it on the first cast off a new reel was quite astonishing itself. Add to that how bad a first cast he made, made it an even more amazing catch.
The fishing Gods have truly blessed him this year. NP hadn't caught a Flathead all week. Today he had prayed to catch one today, before returning to his mom's.. Next time he told me he will be a little more specific and pray for a much bigger fish. Now a days it seems like any fish less than 30lbs is small, after NP landing the 42 pounder.
