REFLECTION

Looking back, the fish you see  Neal Patrick holding here really pales in comparison to the 42lb fish he caught. Still this is the one that got Neal Patrick hooked on fishing for monster size flatheads. I remember how excited he was in this photo.

All  this was prior to his lucky fishing hat, which is now a necessary tool in his "secrets to catching the big one. The fish  pictured here, started him on his way go to become his own legend.

The Flathead Catfish you see here  was caught on May 15 on High Rock Lake, NC. This date also marked the end of a terrific Crappie fishing season. Since that time I have taught  NP how to throw a cast net and fish with live bait. Now he thinks of using nothing else but live bait and he doesn't enjoy catching small fish like Crappie anymore.

Our fishing techniques are evolving. We  are now both firm belivers in the "bigger the bait, the bigger the fish". NP and I will still continue to try other baits. Recently we tried ivory soap, but it only left us with clean hands. Live bait so far is hard to beat.
